How Mosque Finder works

Open, verifiable data

The places shown come from OpenStreetMap, a free collaborative mapping database. Each listing shows the name, address and GPS coordinates of the place when available.

Prayer times

The five daily prayer times (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) are calculated from each city’s coordinates, and therefore change every day with the position of the sun. Jumu’ah time is shown when the information is available.

Free, no account needed

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?

All mosques listed come from OpenStreetMap, the free collaborative mapping database. Names, addresses and coordinates are those provided by OSM contributors.

How are prayer times calculated?

They are computed from the geographic coordinates of each mosque, using the Muslim World League method. They therefore change every day with the position of the sun and are provided for guidance only.

Is the Jumu’ah time reliable?

Jumu’ah is not calculated automatically: it is shown only when a mosque has explicitly recorded it on OpenStreetMap. If in doubt, contact the mosque directly.

How do I report a missing mosque or an error?

Since the data comes from OpenStreetMap, updates are made on openstreetmap.org. Any correction or addition appears on Mosque Finder at the next build of the site.

Do I need an account to use Mosque Finder?

No. The site is completely free and requires no sign-up. All features are freely accessible, on mobile and desktop alike.
